about
Rokeby Dawn Chorus is a 'natural' recording made 26 April 2008 near Diss, a small market town set in rural Norfolk, England. The approx. 45 minute recording starts off fairly quietly with the first of the early risers and gradually builds to a crescendo with more birds joining in. After a short while the dawn chorus decays to normal sound levels as the birds go about their day-time activities.
Sonic Field's approach to field recording tends to differ from many recordists by including all sound present at the location being recorded. This ensures the final sound file is a true representation of the ambience of that particular location at the time of recording and not some virtual location produced as a figment of the recordist’s imagination through the removal of unwanted sound such as road traffic, aircraft and other human activities.
