Gavioli Steam Driven Miniature Organ

from The Nostalgia of Fairground Music by SonicFields

/

about

'Gavioli Steam Driven Miniature organ' was recorded whilst playing at the Mechanical Musical Instruments & Fair Organ Festival held at Cotton, Suffolk, England in 1981.

With no exception, even during those earlier years, Sonic Field's approach to field recording differs from many recordists by including all sound present at the location being recorded. This ensures the final sound file is a true representation of the ambience of that particular location at the time of recording and not some virtual location produced as a figment of the recordist’s imagination through the removal of unwanted sound such as road traffic, aircraft and other human activities.

When listening to these particular album tracks, please bear in mind the limited audio quality of the recording equipment used back then. There were no consumer grade portable field recorders capable of capturing audio of 144dB dynamic range and 48KHz bandwidth, or even the lower CD quality of 96dB at 22KHz, but was limited to a mere 55dB dynamic range and less than 10KHz bandwidth - that's if everything was perfect!
