about

It's surprising how sensitive an audio field recording system can be. Unlike the human auditory system, it does not possess a selective audio filter system, which subconsciously filters out unwanted sound or noise, but will instead record everything it can detect.

This slightly amplified track displays this ability, by recording sounds which were barely audible at the time, such as the distant bleating of sheep and background sound from a hovering USAF 'Osprey' aircraft, several miles away.

To listen to this particular track more realistically, as it would have been heard at the time, simply turn down the playback volume by approximately one third of your normal listening level.
